2010 CASINO NIGHT

The kickoff event for Greene Habitat's 2010 fundraising year was a Casino Night held on March 2th. The Four Seasons retirement community agreed to host the event in their beautiful and elegant clubhouse as well as help plan and run the evening. The Blue Ridge School loaned the casino equipment to us and local community members taught each other the ins and outs of running the game tables. Jerry Besanson, the Greene Habitat chapter's director (who is also a Four seasons resident), spearheaded the planning for the event while Joan Richardson, the Volunteer and Events Chair along with the Treasurer, Laura Genz, did most of the heavy-lifting when it came to the planning and execution. Four Season's own Events Coordinator, Sandra Barry was an invaluable part of the team who organized the decorations and made most of the signage. Shaun Hayes, owner of the Blue Ridge Cafe, personally catered the event and served the drinks while the prizes in the silent auction were donated by individuals and businesses all over Greene County. Many others from Four Seasons and Greene Habitat, too numerous to name, put a lot of effort into the event - and the hard work really showed. Over 130 guests were treated to a very special night of good food, great live entertainment and some fun gaming experiences. In addition, over $5,000 was raised which goes towards our fourth house.
