Title PicAfter months of planning and preparing, the chapter ran it's largest event yet, a 6-hour music marathon right in downtown Ruckersville. The Habtoberfest music festival featured 4 bands who drove in from Harrisonburg, Staunton and even Roanoke and graciously donated their time to our cause. The weather was absolutely wonderful, the setting was perfect and the entire day went off with only a few technical gremlins that were quickly remedied.

The audience ended up being smaller than we had hoped, however, due to some heavy competition from other festivals and events throughout the area. But that didn't stop us from earning $1300 and those that did come out had a great time and enjoyed some great music. We also had one band cancellation which took us down from the advertised 5 bands to the 4 I mentioned earlier. Our headliner, The Sunstreak had to drive down from Rochester NY, but only made it as far as Winchester VA when their tour bus broke down with a bad transmission. Our other bands just played longer sets, though, and a good time was had by all.

We have so many people to thank for this event from all of the volunteers who came out to set up, run the event and tear everything down to all of the local businesses who donated their time and services. And, of course, our heartfelt thanks go out to the management and musicians of SP511, Southern Company, Sideshow and Skidmark for their willingness to play at this inaugural event. For these folks and all of the others that I didn't mention by name, thank you for helping us make our first annual Habtoberfest a success.
